Agra, April16:A man hailing from Ghaziabad allegedly strangulated his wife and six-year-old daughter in Nagla Rambal area here, police said today.
The bizarre murders came to light yesterday when neighbours heard the cries of a child emanating from a locked room where the family lived on rent and informed the police, DIG (Agra range) Asim Arun said.
When the police broke open the door of the locked room a woman and a six year old girl were found dead with a rope tied around their necks, while a ten-month-old girl was crying nearby, he said.
Police have suspicion that Ramprakash, the head of the family, who hailed from Ghaziabad and had taken the room on rent earlier this month, had himself committed the murders, the DIG said.
A search is on to trace Ramprakash, he said.

Agra: A man allegedly killed his wife and six—year—old daughter by smothering them at his rented accommodation at Itmad—Uddaulah area here, police said on Thursday.
According to the police, the bodies were found in the morning by neighbours who peeked in the room after they noticed that door was locked from outside but windows were open.
The house owner informed the police that three days ago the 30—year—old woman rented the room and her husband, who works in Delhi, came on Wednesday.
