MUMBAI: Two weeks after he was kidnapped from his building compound in Kandivli, five-year-old Karnit Shah was reunited with his parents on Wednesday evening after a special Mumbai Police team went to Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, and rescued him from his kidnappers. On Wednesday morning, a special squad formed by Mumbai police commissioner Arup Patnaik traced the boy to a village in Handiya district at the outskirts of Allahabad, and conducted a successful rescue operation. An unharmed Karnit was flown back to Mumbai in the evening.



The police have arrested five men-two delivery boys Sameer Usman Khan (22) and Sandeep Dattaram Boruse (30), who worked for the owner of a cake shop in the neighbourhood Sohan Singh Gupta (30), milkman Lalji Yadav (30) and auto rickshaw driver Surjeet Singh Bindth (25). The special team rescued Karnit from Bindth's family home in UP. The accused had worked with each other in Kandivli where they hatched the kidnap plan.
