Compounder Nadeem Shaikh, who operates a clinic at Sonapur in Bhandup (West) posing as a Unani doctor, was arrested Wednesday for sedating and raping a patient. He also allegedly videotaped the crime and forced the patient to have sex with him on several occasions in various hotels in Bhandup till January this year, police said. The 26-year-old married woman visited the clinic for infertility treatment in February last year. Several doctors visit the clinic as consultants. One day, when the doctor treating the woman was away, Shaikh allegedly administered a drug that made her unconscious and raped her. Tuesday, she confided in her husband after which they lodged a police complaint.

Mumbai: Man gets 10 years in jail for drugging, raping woman
A sessions court on Friday sentenced a 33-year-old man to 10 years in prison and fined him Rs 5,000 for drugging and raping a 26-year-old woman on several occasions in 2012 and 2013.
Nadeem Shaikh, a Mumbra resident, used to work as a compounder in a Unani clinic at Bhandup, where the woman used to come for treatment.
The woman is a Bhandup resident and she and her husband did not have children even eight years after marriage. The woman then started visiting the Unani clinic for fertility treatment where several doctors visit as consultants.
One day, when the doctor treating the woman was away, Shaikh approached her and introduced himself as a Unani doctor. Shaikh allegedly gave her a drug which made her unconscious and then raped her. He later threatened the woman that he had her video clip and if she did not continue physical relations with him, he would make it public. He then raped the woman on several occasions at various hotels at Bhandup between February 2012 and May 2013.
The woman and her husband finally lodged a case against him in May 2013, after which the man was arrested.
Investigating officer Dattatary Bargude said, “Based on the complaint, we managed to arrest the accused immediately and we also collected enough evidence, including medical evidence, to prove the case of rape in court.”

Compounder poses as Unani doctor, rapes patient
MUMBAI: The Bhandup police arrested a 30-year-old man who posed as a Unani doctor and raped a woman over the past year. The victim had been visiting him for infertility treatment.
The accused, Nadeem Shaikh, 30, is actually a compounder. The victim complained that he drugged her and raped her after she lost consciousness. She also told the police that Shaikh shot the incident on video. But the police are yet to find the video clip.
The victim has been married for eight years and stays in a chawl at Bhandup West with her husband. She has complained that Shaikh raped her repeatedly at various places between February 2012 and January 2013. Whenever she protested, Shaikh would threaten to make the video clip public," a police official said.
She finally mustered courage and approached the Bhandup police station. Shaikh was arrested under for cheating, impersonation, rape and poisoning.
