Crime Patrol: Man, grand-daughter murdered (Episode 412 on 5th August 2014)

The Inside Story
Punjab Mata Nagar on Phakhowal Road was shocked after Narinder Kumar Anand (62) and his seven-year-old grand-daughter Rewa were found brutally murdered at their residence on Tuesday evening. Kumar was a retired manager of Food Corporation of India. A team of police officials led by CP Ishwar Singh and including ADCP (Crime) Harjinder Singh, ADCP Joginder Singh, ACP Gurpreet Kaur and ACP Gurmeet Kaur Purewal, reached the spot immediately.

"Narinder Kumar's daughter-in-law Reena has informed us that two persons had come to meet her father-in-law in the evening. She led them to the room where he was sitting and then left the house to pay her daughter's tuition fees. When she came back home a few minutes later, she found her father-in-law's room on fire," informed the CP.

The police said that Narinder Kumar and Rewa were hit with sharp weapon, after which the criminals tried to set the bodies on fire. The bodies have been sent for post mortem. The cops recovered a large hammer from the crime spot, which seems to have been washed after use. Finger prints and other clues have also been retrieved. Narinder Kumar's son Hitesh runs a shop near Samrala Chowk.

It has been learnt that Reena, a resident of Nakodar, was remarried to Hitesh some six months ago. "She has told us that she does not know who the two persons who had come to meet her father-in-law were. Some construction work is also going on at the first floor of the house and the labourers are now missing. We have found some vital clues from the site and we will crack the case very soon," vowed Singh.

The crime site does not bear any signs of robbery.
