Home Alone Woman Murdered in Katpadi

VELLORE: A 54-year-old woman was found murdered with her throat slit at a house in Katpadi on Wednesday afternoon. The deceased was identified as Parimala, wife of Vijayakumar, and a resident of Chennai. She had come along with her husband to their daughter Sujatha’s house at VG Rao Nagar in Katpadi on Tuesday.

Police said, Sujatha, a teaching faculty at a private educational institution near Chittoor bus stand and her husband had gone for work, while Parimala’s husband had gone out. Sujatha had come home and had lunch with her mother and left for work again.

When Sujatha returned from work, she found her mother missing and the articles and clothes strewn. There were blood stains in the bathroom in the first floor and on the lock of a small room on the second floor. The TV was turned on with high volume, police said, quoting Sujatha.

On information, police rushed to the house and broke open the room and found Parimala’s body in a pool of blood. “Parimala was stabbed and her throat slit. The killers left the body and locked it from outside. The jewels and valuables were stolen,” said police. Inquiries revealed that a couple had approached the victim on the pretext of enquiring about houses for rent. “A pair of womens’ footwear was found which proves the involvement of a woman. The killers had accompanied Parmala to the second floor to make her believe that they were interested in renting that portion. After reaching there, they murdered her,” police said. Forensics personnel lifted fingerprints from the spot.

DIG R Tamil Chandran and SP P Vijayakumar inspected the murder spot.
