Crime Patrol: Maharashtra: Girl, killed by jilted lover for wanting to study, scores 85% in SSC (Episode 610 on 27th November, 2015)

The Inside Story

Dhanashree Molkar (16), a Class X student from Jogeshwari was killed on Saturday by her jilted lover for wanting to study further. As per a Mid-Day report, on Monday, when the SSC results were announced, it revealed that Dhanashree scored 85% marks.

Dhanashree's mother in the report is quoted as, "She (Dhanashree) wanted to be a journalist, but now everything is finished."

Dhanashree was stabbed to death by Prateek Kubal (24), a hardware engineer from Virar. Both of them had known each other since childhood as both had their hometowns in Sindhudurg. On one such trip to her hometown, Dhanashree grew closer to Prateek. But after her father came to know about it, he warned her against getting distracted from studies. She discontinued the relationship immediately.

Kubal however kept calling her. Dhanashree finally agreed to meet him on Saturday to get some of their photos back. When they met at a lake in Jogeshwari-Vikhroli Link Road, she told him that this would be the last time he would be seeing her. This enraged Kubal and he reportedly stabbed her multiple times with his knife on her chest, abdomen and arms.

Kubal was arrested by the Meghwadi police and kept in remand for two days. He was later produced in holiday court.
