Crime Patrol: Two nabbed in suitcase murder case (Episode 326 on 28 Dec 2013)

The inside story
MUMBAI: Two men were arrested on Wednesday for allegedly killing an employee of a garment factory whose body was found stuffed in a suitcase at Malad (W). The accused, Mohammad Alam Khan and Sikander Khan, had a financial dispute with the 34-year-old victim, Alam Ansari. They were nabbed from Kolkata after their cellphone location was tracked down. Their third associate, Sheru, is still on the run.

The trio has been booked on the charges of murder and destruction of evidence.

Ansari had a live-in relationship with a woman called Najma. She had a daughter, Soni, from her previous marriage. Soni and her husband Mohammad Alam stayed in Malwani. Najma's brother, Sheru, and her nephew, Sikandar, too stayed with the couple. "Mohammad Alam and Sikandar were earlier arrested for their involvement in chain-snatching cases. While they were in the lock-up, Soni had given Ansari Rs 16,000 to arrange for their bail. But Ansari allegedly usurped the cash which irked the duo," said DCP Mahesh Patil.

After getting out of the lock-up, Mohammad Alam plotted with Sikandar and Sheru to bump off Ansari. On October 5, the trio invited Ansari for a liquor party to their house. They forced Ansari to drink so much that he passed out. The accused then slit his throat with a razor and bludgeoned him with tiles. They bundled the body into a suitcase and abandoned it near a school on DP Road.
