Shaitaan - A Criminal Mind: Absconding criminal held (Episode 6 on 16th Dec 2012)

Pune: The Kondhwa Police on Wednesday night arrested Pravin Prakash Pallelu (21), an absconding criminal, for allegedly brandishing a sword and threatening the residents of Shivneri in Kondhwa Khurd for extorting money.

Pallelu is a resident of Kolhapur.

On Wednesday, after receiving a tip-off, a police patrol reached Shivneri. When Pallelu spotted the police, he started running, only to be overpowered by the policemen.

The police team recovered the sword from Pallelu, senior police inspector Prasad Hasabnis, in charge of the Kondhwa police station, said on Thursday.

Hasabnis said Pallelu was arrested under the relevant sections of the Arms Act. Sub inspector Jitendra Kadam has registered a complaint against Pravin.

Pallelu was earlier arrested in three cases -- two murders and a body offence. One of the murders was committed when he was a minor. In 2009, the police had taken preventive action against Pallelu under section 110 of Bombay Police Act.

Pallelu had committed five offences, including planning dacoity, body offence, Arms Act, setting motorcycle on fire and vehicle theft between 2009-11.

A police team had twice visited Kolhapur to trace him, but his whereabouts were not known for one and a half years.

The Pune Cantonment court has remanded Pallelu in police custody till Saturday.
