NEW DELHI: Two days after a man was found murdered in Ranhola, the Delhi
Police on Monday arrested his wife and three others in this connection.
"The woman, Santwana Sharma, confessed to have plotted the murder with her colleagues, Sandeep, Jitender and Subhash Sharma," said Vijay Kumar, DCP (West).
Police said that Santwana had an affair with Sandeep. When her husband came to
know about it he threatened her with dire consequences.
Sharma was strangled and then run over by a truck after which Santwana gouged out his eyes, police said.
Sharma's body was found beside a canal in Ranhola, 6km from his house at Mohan Garden. During investigations, police questioned Santwana who tried to mislead the cops saying that Sharma might have met with an accident.
However, police registered a case of murder based on the nature of injuries on Sharma's body.
"A team was formed to track the call records of Santwana that revealed that she was in constant touch with the three men," police said.
As per the plan, Santwana had asked Sharma to get a change for Rs 500 from a local shop where Sandeep, Jitender and Subhash were already waiting. Sharma was abducted in a Tata Ace mini-truck and taken to Ranhola. Santwana also accompanied them to the stretch beside the canal, police said.
When Sharma resisted, Sandeep strangled him till he fell unconscious and then threw him out of the truck and run over him. They dropped the body on the slope beside the canal and fled. Santwana then filed a missing compliant with the police.
Investigations revealed that Santwana told Sandeep that she was tortured by Sharma and wanted to get rid of him. She paid Rs 30,000 to Sandeep and promised to pay Rs 4 lakh later, police said.
