They said they killed Sandeep with a stone, not mentioning the use of a gun. Sandeep’s body had been found by Khajrana police who were investigating the case.
They had found three mobile number in a chit inside his pocket and the bullet which killed Sandeep. Even as the Khajrana police were investigating the case, an informer tipped off the Palasia police and they arrested Banti and Dheeraj for the murder.
However, they did not tell the entire story to Palasia police. When the Khajrana police team questioned them and confronted them with the bullet, they confessed that they had shot Sandeep.
They confessed that they had committed a few loots along the Ring Road and had a fight over sharing the spoils. So, they took Sandeep to Bicholi and murdered him.
One of the accused, Dheeraj Sharma is the son of a policeman. His father works in the DIG office. Dheeraj had been caught for his involvement in a loot in Scheme No 54, but was released due to lack of sufficient evidence.
Dheeraj used to drive a dumper in the mines and he knew that no one frequented the place and chose that spot to kill Sandeep.
Miscreant, accomplice held
POLICE HAS arrested a miscreant who had assaulted a jailor in Khandwa and has around 20 cases pending against him in Khandwa.
The culprit was staying in Indore for the past six month, during which he formed his own gang and started lifting vehicles. The accused Vishwas son of Dilip Soni resident of Shubham Palace, Bangarda Road was arrested along with Nitin son of Vijay Parashar resident of Sangam Nagar, by the Crime Branch and four vehicles were recovered from them.
One of their accomplice, Pawan is absconding. During questioning the accused said they used to steal vehicles from Indore and sell them in Khandwa, Khargone, Sanawad, Barhawa among other places and vehicles stolen from those areas were sold in Indore.
Police said Pawan is an expert in breaking locks and used to break open the locks of parked two-wheelers within minutes. The gang members have admitted stealing 15 vehicles.
Police said Vishwas, the gang leader is the most dangerous of the lot. Apart from vehicle-lifting he also has cases of loot, attempted murder and dacoity registered against him in the Khandwa Kotwali police station, Moghat, Sanawad, and Barwaha.
Police believe that the gang might be involved in more serious crime in the city and are getting details from Khandwa for further questioning.
