Crime Patrol: Lesbian couple, 3 others get life for double murder (Dial 100, Episode 125, 126 on 6th, 7th Apr, 2016)

During investigation, it came to light that the women initally planned to kill Pyare Lal and Ram Naresh. Kamla contacted the three killers, whom she knew.

THE court of Shahjahanpur additional district and sessions judge has sentenced a lesbian couple and three contract killers to life imprisonment for a double murder that took place in district’s Khutar area in August 2007.

The accused couple — Kamla and Shanti Devi — and contract killers Rameshwar, Ganga Singh and Vishnu Pal were sentenced on Friday for the murders of Kamla’s husband Suresh and his elder brother Ram Naresh. Following the judgment, all five accused — who were out on bail — were sent to jail.

“Police had found that the married woman was in a relationship with her neighbour. They planned the murder because Kamla was being forced to end the relationship. Additional District and Sessions Judge Shailendra Pandey sentenced both the women and Rameshwar, Ganga Singh and Vishnu Pal to life imprisonment,” government counsel Sanjay Singh Tomar told The Indian Express.

He added that three crucial witnesses in the case were Suresh’s father Pyare Lal — the complainant — Ram Naresh’s wife Kalawati and her son Rajnish. “While Pyare Lal had alleged that his daughter-in-law was having a relation with another woman, Kalawati said Kamla had opened the door for the killers. Rajnish also claimed to have seen the killers running out of the house,” said Tomar.

Pyare Lal, a retired government school teacher, is a resident of Sitapur village in Khutar. Both his sons were farmers.

According to Pyare Lal, on the intervening night of August 18 and 19, he and other members of his family were sleeping on the terrace when three persons entered the house. They first shot Suresh on the chest. Hearing a gunshot, Ram Naresh woke up and caught one of the assailants. However, he was attacked with a sword and shot. While the killers escaped, Suresh died on the spot. Ram Naresh was taken to hospital where he was declared dead on arrival, said Rameshwar and Ganga Singh’s lawyer Sarnam Singh.

Pyare Lal, in his complaint with the police, had indicated that Kamla was behind the murders. He alleged that she was having a relationship with her unmarried friend, who lived in the adjacent village and visited Kamla regularly.

Following the complaint, police picked up Kamla for questioning. During interrogation, she confessed to the crime. She told the police that Pyare Lal and Ram Naresh were against her relationship with her friend whom she knew for over 10 years. Kamla added that she came in contact with her friend after she married Suresh.

“A year before the murders, the two women had got married at a temple in Khutar area. Kamla also said she had changed her name to Suraj and her friend’s to Chand,” Tomar said. On the basis of her statement, Shanti Devi was arrested.

During investigation, it came to light that the women initally planned to kill Pyare Lal and Ram Naresh. Kamla contacted the three killers, whom she knew. But Suresh was killed as he was sleeping on Pyare Lal’s cot. On August 21, 2007, Rameshwar, Ganga Singh and Vishnu Pal were arrested with the weapons used in the crime.

Advocate Manender Singh, who represented the two women in court, said: “The motive behind the murders was that both the women were in a relationship and Kamla’s in-laws were against it.” All the accused were granted bail a few months after their arrest, he added.

Crime Patrol: Auto driver arrested for 2011 murders (Episode 642 on 1st Apr, 2016)

During interrogation, Sanjay allegedly told the police that the murder that he committed in the first week of July 2011 was his first crime.

The Anti-Extortion Cell of the Mumbai Police Crime Branch has arrested a 28-year-old man in two murder cases that took place in 2011. The accused had been arrested in connection with another case last year but managed to keep his involvement in the previous two murders a secret, till an informant tipped off the police.

According to Crime Branch officers, the accused has been identified as Sanjay Shettiar (28), a resident of the Gorai area in Borivali, who was working as an auto driver after his release from prison in January this year. Crime Branch officials said that earlier this month, the AEC received a tip off that a man who had committed two brutal murders in 2011 was now working as an auto driver in Mumbai. An AEC team then tracked him down and kept him under close observation to confirm whether he was indeed the man who was involved in the murders. The policemen travelled in his auto a couple of times posing as passengers so that they could observe him closely and after confirming that this was indeed the man they were looking for, the police brought him to the AEC office for inquiries. “After sustained interrogation, Sanjay confessed to having committed the two murders — one in Shahpur and the other in Lonavala — in 2011. Both murders were committed along with several other accused, some of whom are currently in jail after being arrested for various other offences,” said Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) KMM Prasanna.

During interrogation, Sanjay allegedly told the police that the murder that he committed in the first week of July 2011 was his first crime. The police said Sanjay, along with his friends Mohiuddin Sheikh and Shivkumar Shetty, had visited Trimbakeshwar in Nashik and ran out of money, after which they hatched a plan to rob someone. “The trio stopped a private vehicle and asked the driver to drop them to Mumbai in exchange for Rs 100 per person. On the way, they strangled the driver, identified as Raghunath Avhad, and threw his body near Mokhadi in Shahpur after robbing him of all his valuables. The Shahpur police later found the body and registered a case of murder against unknown persons,” said Prasanna.

Shortly after their return to Mumbai, Sanjay’s cousin Shekhar Shettiar approached him and told him that a Santacruz-based businessman, Harish Dedhia, had been harassing his mother and sister over a financial dispute. A plan was hatched and on July 11, Shekhar brought Dedhia to Vile Parle in his car under a false pretext, where Sanjay, Sheikh, and another accused identified as Lala got into the vehicle.

“The accused took Dedhia to Lonavala, strangled him, mangled his face to the point of decapitation and disposed of his body at the Battery Hill in Mawal, Lonavala. A missing persons complaint was registered by Dedhia’s family with the Santacruz police, and the body was found on July 17 by the Lonavala police, who had registered an accidental death report in the matter,” Prasanna said.

Sanjay was placed under arrest following his confession and handed over to the Shahpur police for further inquiries.

Crime Patrol: Mystery of Wannabe Actress' Murder: Police Arrest Serial Husband and His New Flame (Episode 643, 644 on 2nd, 3rd Apr, 2016)

CHENNAI: A month after a young woman's headless body was found by the roadside at Ramapuram, the Chennai police have taken in for questioning her husband and a woman said to be his paramour.

The deceased woman has been identified as a junior film artiste named, Sasi Rekha, 36, a resident of Madipakkam.

Police sources said the interrogation of the man, Ramesh Shankar (34), led to the recovery of the missing head from a canal at Kolapakkam, kilometres away from the spot where the torso was found.

Police are also questioning Lakhiya (22), an aspiring actress hailing from Kerala, who the police believe is involved in the murder.

A few months ago, Sasi Rekha had petitioned the police to take action against Ramesh Shankar as he had deserted her and was living with another woman. Her complaint was reported in several newspapers.

Sasi Rekha was living with her parents and an eight-year-old son from her first marriage. She had acted in a yet-to-be released film and was looking for more opportunities in the film industry.

Police say Sasi Rekha married Ramesh Shanker barely seven months ago, in August 2015. Ramesh, a widower and a struggling businessman, had allegedly been involved in several cheating cases earlier.

In 2011, Shanker's previous wife and his parents committed suicide in Anakaputhur owing to his financial troubles, post which he moved in with his uncle in Vadapalani and began a business, promising movie roles to aspiring film artistes. It was this that brought Sasi Rekha into contact with him.

The two tied the knot after a few months of courtiship.

The relationship turned sour, however, and Sasi Rekha registered police complaints against Ramesh Shanker, alleging that his marriage to her was his seventh and that he had cheated several other women in the past.

Shanker walked out on Sasi Rekha and met Lakhiya, another aspiring actress from Kerala. The two started living together in a house located in Madhanandhapuram, near Kundrathur.

"It was one of the complaints that she lodged with the police that helped us realise that she had gone missing. When we matched the details of the torso found on January 5, we found the victim was her," said a police source.

Police suspect that it was Ramesh and Lakhiya who murdered Sasi Rekha.

"It appears Ramesh attacked and killed her during a quarrel and they later decided to dispose of the body by decapitating it to make identification difficult," said a police officer.

Headless Body Found In Chennai Is Of TV Actor Sasirekha, Husband Arrested

A month after the headless body of a woman was found in a garbage yard in Chennai, the police have identified it as the body of a television actor Sasirekha.

Sasirekha, 36, was allegedly murdered by her 34-year-old husband Ramesh and his girlfriend Lawkiiyaa, an actress and his business associate.

The two have been arrested and a case has been filed against them for murder, conspiracy and destruction of evidence. During questioning Ramesh and Lawkiiyaa told the police they killed Sasirekha and dumped the dismembered body in two places.

The police started investigating the case after Sasirekha's parents filed a complaint.

Ramesh's first wife and parents had committed suicide after he suffered huge losses in business. He switched to acting and started providing opportunities to aspiring actors.

Investigators say Ramesh and Lawkiiyaa had been living together since 2012. He projected Lawkiiyaa as an actor of his upcoming movie and cheated many people - collecting huge sums of money by promising them a role in his movies.

He then met Sasirekha, who had an eight-year-old child. They got married in August 2015.

The trouble started when he left Sasirekha and moved in again with 24-year-old Lawkiiyaa.

Sasirekha filed a complaint with the police against Ramesh for allegedly kidnapping her son. The police, however, found the complaint to be false.
