After three months of tireless probe, the Chembur Police finally managed to nab the alleged murderer of a 32-year-old bar girl. The alleged accused Amandeep Singh (29) was hiding in Jammu & Kashmir after committing the crime three months ago.
The reason for murder was that the accused wanted to go to Australia. Marriage with the victim, viz. Inderjeet alias Payal Santram Bhardwaj (32), would have given easy entry to Australia. But Payal refused to marry him. Out of frustration, the dejected accused strangulated Payal and fled from the scene after committing the crime.
According to the police, the incident occurred at Jhama Chowk in a room above Dhanwantari Clinic near Krishna Bakery in Chembur. On the night of April 24 and 25 around 3.40 a.m. a loud wailing of a desperate woman was heard by a neighbour who informed the police control room. Immediately the Chembur police reached the spot but found the door lock was intact from outside.
The police then broke open the door and found Payal Bhardwaj dead. She bore strangulation mark and her tongue had stretched out. Police registered an offence of murder against unknown accused for reasons not known.
During the course of the investigation, police suspected that someone known to the victim might have stayed with her and escaped from the window after killing her. The window had no grill. Amandeep was staying at Chembur camp at the time of the incident. However, on the night of offence which was on April 24 he was seen loitering in the state of intoxication near victim’s residence. He was also escorted by some witnesses from the area while he was loitering said the police.
But during the police investigation it was found that on April 25 morning, Amandeep suddenly disappeared from Mumbai leaving behind his belongings.
“On the basis of suspicion and details we gathered from our investigation, our police team went to Amritsar, Chandigarh and Jammu to locate Amandeep, but our team could not succeed in their mission. But once again, after collecting more evidence and details our police team comprising API Jadhav, PI Guge and staff was sent to J&K to trace Amandeep under the guidance of Addl CP (East region) Quaiser Khalid and DCP (Zone-VI) Manoj Lohiya and ACP Milind Bise,” stated Senior PI Bhimrao Rathod of Chembur police. “Now the Kurla court has given Amandeep police custody till July 27. He had confessed to his crime,” revealed the senior PI.
